Bahia Police seize assets in supermarket fraud investigation

The Bahia Civil Police launched ‘Operação Caixa Vazio’ to investigate a fraud scheme that caused significant financial losses to a supermarket chain in Euclides da Cunha. The operation resulted in the judicial blocking of financial assets totaling approximately R$ 5.7 million.

Authorities seized R$ 289,352 in cash, along with firearms including a 9mm pistol and a 12-gauge shotgun, as well as ammunition, vehicles, and luxury items such as designer watches and sunglasses. Additionally, the court ordered the seizure of four properties in Euclides da Cunha valued at roughly R$ 530,000.

During the operation, eight judicial warrants were executed, consisting of five search and seizure warrants for residences and three for vehicles. A 45-year-old suspect was interrogated at the Euclides da Cunha Territorial Police Station and released to respond to the investigation in freedom.
