Bahia productivity: Plano Brasil Saúde proposes new strategic project

Paulo Bittencourt, CEO of Plano Brasil Saúde, has proposed the creation of 'Projeto Bahia' to establish a long-term strategy for the state of Bahia. Speaking at the Agenda Bahia 2026 event, Bittencourt emphasized the need for a strategy to guide the productive sector, stimulate investment, and prepare the region for global economic shifts.

Bittencourt highlighted the critical economic role of the health sector, noting it generates approximately R$ 135 billion and accounts for roughly 10% of Brazil's GDP. He pointed out that the sector is a major employer, with over 2.5 million people working in the Unified Health System (SUS) and approximately 5 million across the entire health value chain.

The proposal suggests that health must be central to discussions regarding productivity and development. Bittencourt noted that true productivity requires more than just adopting new technologies like artificial intelligence; it necessitates professional qualification, leadership development, and organizational adaptability to navigate the fourth industrial revolution.
