CNJ suspends federal judge Evandro Reimão dos Reis for 120 days

The National Council of Justice (CNJ) has unanimously decided to suspend federal judge Evandro Reimão dos Reis, of the TRF-6, for 120 days. The disciplinary action, known as the penalty of availability, follows an investigation into administrative irregularities, including mismanagement of case files, improper treatment of staff, and failure to fulfill judicial duties.

During the judgment, CNJ President Minister Edson Fachin reprimanded the judge after he attempted to speak without being granted the floor. The judge had argued for legal parity between the judiciary and the Public Ministry regarding disciplinary sanctions, but Fachin ruled that the argument was a matter of legal interpretation rather than a clarification of fact, stating, “I have not granted you the floor. And you are a magistrate and know that you must await the order.”

The investigation highlighted significant issues within the judge's chambers, such as thousands of accumulated processes, some of which had remained stagnant for over 180 days.
