Bahia Public Prosecutor and Ministry of Justice partner on mental health

The Public Prosecutor's Office of Bahia (MPBA) and the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP) have signed a Technical Cooperation Agreement to address mental health among public security professionals. Signed in Brasília as part of the ‘Yellow September’ campaign, the partnership aims to prevent psychological illness, encourage suicide prevention, and improve the well-being of police officers and prosecutors in Bahia.

The initiative includes training led by the Escuta SUSP project, a national service providing specialized psychological support. Training will focus on sensitizing authorities to the stresses of police routines and disseminating self-care practices. Bahia's Attorney General, Pedro Maia, noted that the agreement strengthens institutional action through the use of scientific evidence to formulate preventive policies.

In separate regional developments, the Court of Justice of Bahia (TJ-BA) unanimously ruled in favor of education professionals from Itiruçu regarding the distribution of Fundef precatórios. Additionally, the Court of Accounts of the Municipalities of Bahia recommended the approval of Nova Canaã’s 2024 accounts with reservations due to issues with debt collection and Fundeb pendencies. In Acre, the State Court of Accounts identified R$ 27.6 million in accounting discrepancies in Porto Acre’s 2022 accounts, though the accounts were approved with reservations.
