Bahia state issues wind and rain alerts for dozens of municipalities

The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued a potential danger wind alert for more than 80 municipalities across Bahia, warning of gusts between 40 km/h and 60 km/h and advising residents to avoid sheltering under trees, parking near transmission towers, and to contact civil defence in emergencies. Feira de Santana was explicitly excluded from the list.

The Institute of Environment and Water Resources (Inema) renewed an alert for 25 municipalities in southern, low‑south and extreme‑south Bahia, extending it through Tuesday. The alert follows a cold front that has produced heavy rain, with Porto Seguro recording 43.8 mm, the highest accumulation. Saturated soils increase the risk of urban flooding and other disruptions, and the agency urges the public to stay alert and contact emergency services if needed.
