Bahia state school directors can convert premium leave to cash

The Bahia State Secretariat of Education has regulated the process allowing directors and vice-directors of state schools to convert accumulated premium leave (licença-prêmio) into cash payments. This measure, established via Ordinance No. 1.579/2026, also includes technical analysts, administrative technicians, administrative assistants, and pedagogical coordinators.

The conversion is intended to ensure the continuity of administrative and school activities by preventing staff absences when leave is deemed inconvenient for service needs. The benefit is not automatic; it requires a formal request and is subject to the denial, suspension, or interruption of leave due to service requirements.

Approvals are subject to several constraints, including the annual limit set by the Council of Human Resources Policies (Cope), which caps the benefit at 10% of the effective staff in the Secretariat, and the state's budgetary availability. Payments are limited to the equivalent of one month of premium leave for every four months of service following the conversion. Interested employees can submit requests through SAC Educação or Territorial Education Nuclei (NTE) via the Electronic Information System (SEI).
