Bahlil Lahadalia emphasizes clean energy value for global competitiveness
Indonesia's Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, stated that products derived from clean energy and green industries hold higher value in the global market compared to those produced using fossil fuels. Speaking at the 41st Trade Expo Indonesia in Tangerang, Bahlil emphasized that global demand is shifting toward green energy and green industry, making energy transition a critical component of the national industrialization strategy to enhance export competitiveness.
This strategic direction is reflected in the state electricity company PLN's Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) for 2025–2034. The government plans to add 69.5 gigawatts (GW) of power generation capacity, with approximately 42.6 GW, or 61 percent, sourced from new and renewable energy. This transition is expected to unlock significant investment potential and create millions of jobs for the Indonesian population.
