Bahoruco school classes suspended despite tuberculosis denial

Classes remain suspended at the Pedro Mir Educational Center in the Isabela community, located in the Tamayo municipality of Bahoruco, affecting more than 300 students. The suspension, which began on September 17, was initiated as a preventive measure by parents and the local branch of the Dominican Teachers Association (ADP) following concerns regarding potential tuberculosis cases among students and adults in the area.

The Provincial Health Directorate (DPS) of Bahoruco has officially ruled out the existence of a tuberculosis outbreak, stating there is no evidence of a transmission risk in the school or the surrounding community. Health authorities clarified that while they conducted a preventive orientation session for teachers and staff regarding symptoms and protocols, they did not confirm any cases nor did they order the suspension of classes.

Despite these official clarifications, the educational community remains in a state of uncertainty as parents continue to express concern over the potential spread of the disease.
