Bahrain Grand Prix to be held in Malaysia at Sepang as a daytime race
The 2026 Bahrain Grand Prix has been relocated from the Sakhir circuit to the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. Organisers confirmed that the race will not be run at night because Sepang’s lighting system does not meet Formula 1 standards. Consequently, the event is scheduled for a 15:00 local start (09:00 GMT).
The three‑day programme runs from Friday, 2 October, with two practice sessions, followed by Saturday, 3 October, for the third practice and qualifying. The race itself takes place on Sunday, 4 October. This change reduces the season’s night‑race count, leaving only Singapore, Las Vegas and Abu Dhabi as evening events.
