Sepang International Circuit to Host 2026 Bahrain Grand Prix
The FIA and Formula One Management have confirmed that the 2026 Bahrain Grand Prix will be held at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia on 2‑4 October, replacing the Bahrain race cancelled because of conflict in the region. Bahrain will pay the full rights‑fee for the event, estimated at US$70‑80 million (RM298‑340 million). Local operational costs of about RM40 million will be shared between Bahrain and Malaysia. Organisers expect the race to generate an economic impact of up to RM1 billion for Malaysia, roughly three times the investment. All ticket revenue will go to Bahrain, though Malaysian officials hope to negotiate a MyKad discount of around RM100 for local fans. Volunteers can apply for daily stipends of RM60; eligibility is limited to Malaysian citizens or permanent residents aged 18 and over. The Sepang circuit meets FIA Grade 1 standards, requiring only minor upgrades, and has already undergone preliminary inspections by F1 representatives.
