BSP faces challenge rebuilding Brahmin alliance for 2027 UP elections
The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) faces a significant challenge in reconstructing its social engineering formula ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. The party's previous success in 2007 was largely attributed to a strategic alliance between Dalit and Brahmin voters.
In recent years, the BSP has seen a decline in prominent Brahmin leadership due to various leaders leaving the party or being expelled. Notable figures such as Rakesh Dhar Tripathi, Brajesh Pathak, and most recently, Anant Kumar Mishra, have moved to other political entities. Currently, Satish Chandra Mishra is identified as a primary Brahmin face remaining with the party.
Political analysts suggest that for Mayawati to reclaim power, the party must not only identify new Brahmin leaders but also rebuild trust within the community and balance various social groups to strengthen the organizational structure.
