Bahujan Samaj Party wins 19 seats in Rajasthan municipal elections

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has congratulated party workers following the party’s acquisition of 19 seats in the Rajasthan municipal elections. While celebrating the win, Mayawati alleged that the party’s performance could have been stronger if not for irregularities in government machinery during the recounting process, which she claims led to several candidates losing by narrow margins.

In the broader election results, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the leading force in Rajasthan’s urban local body elections, securing 4,179 wards. The Indian National Congress followed with 3,613 wards. The BJP also secured majorities in four of the state’s ten municipal corporations.

Despite the BJP's overall lead, the Congress party secured a majority in the Bikaner Municipal Corporation and achieved a significant victory in the Jhalawar Municipal Council.
