Baia Mare driver caught with 4.00 g/l blood alcohol concentration

A 44-year-old man in Baia Mare, Romania, was found to have a blood alcohol concentration of 4.00 g/l after being stopped by police on Regele Ferdinand Boulevard.

Initial roadside testing showed an expired air breathalyzer reading of 2.00 mg/l. Subsequent biological analysis confirmed the extreme level of 4.00 g/l of pure alcohol in his blood. Medical experts note that concentrations around 0.40% (equivalent to 4 g/l) are associated with severe intoxication, potential coma, respiratory failure, and death.
