Baia Mare Library Honors Late Journalist Octavian Butuza with Exhibit

The County Library “Petre Dulfu” in Baia Mare has opened a dedicated book‑display titled “From the Heart of the Citadel in Search of Light” to commemorate Octavian Butuza, a prominent journalist and TV host from Maramureș who died in 2016. The showcase highlights his contributions to print, radio and television, including documentaries on regional identity such as “Maramureș, My Love” (1994) and “Maramureș, Eternal Seal” (1995), as well as his books and award‑winning reports.

Butuza, born in 1957, served as chief editor at TV Cinemar Baia Mare and hosted programs on local radio and TV stations. He also authored several volumes of essays and poetry. The exhibition aims to revive public awareness of his role in shaping Maramureș journalism and culture during the decade since his passing.
