Violent incidents and child welfare cases reported in Moldova and Romania

Several violent incidents and child welfare cases have been reported in Moldova and Romania.

In Măgdăcești, Moldova, a 47-year-old man allegedly shot and killed his 42-year-old wife before committing suicide. The man had a standing protection order against him. The Ombudsman, Ceslav Panico, has launched an investigation to examine how the protection order was applied and whether state obligations regarding the right to life and domestic violence prevention were met.

In Călărași, Romania, two teenagers aged 14 and 16 have been placed under 60-day judicial control after a violent assault on a 12-year-old girl in a public space. The victim required several days of medical care for injuries to her head and body.

In Baia Mare, Romania, emergency services rescued a three-year-old child found on a first-floor window ledge. Authorities are investigating the mother, 34, for child neglect after she reportedly left the minor unsupervised.

Additionally, in Caserta, Italy, a five-month-old Romanian baby was reportedly abducted from a placement center by two masked individuals. Investigators are looking into whether this is linked to the prior disappearance of the child's four older siblings.
