Baia Mare to implement periodic water quality testing for local springs
Baia Mare is launching a project to periodically verify the quality of water from local springs. The initiative, a partnership between the Municipality of Baia Mare and the Next Level Maramureș Association, aims to provide transparency regarding water potability.
The project involves identifying and mapping springs on both public and private municipal land. Water samples will be collected under controlled conditions by trained personnel or accredited specialists. The association will cover the costs of periodic analyses, which must be conducted in laboratories authorized by the Ministry of Health.
Results will be shared with the Municipality and the Public Health Directorate within 48 hours of receipt. To inform the public, informative panels will be installed near the springs, displaying water quality data, the date of the last analysis, and usage recommendations. If water is found to be non-potable, warning signs will be displayed.
