Baiada Poultry opens multimillion-dollar processing plant in Tamworth

Baiada Poultry has officially opened a multimillion-dollar processing plant in Tamworth, marking a significant expansion for the company which has operated in the region since the 1960s. The facility, which took three years to construct, utilizes advanced food manufacturing technology including automated inline processing, digital process controls, and automated packaging and cold storage systems.

Managing Director Simon Camilleri stated that the investment reflects confidence in the future of Tamworth. The plant is expected to create between 700 and 800 additional jobs at the site alone. While the facility will initially process approximately 1.5 million chickens per week, it is designed to expand to a capacity of up to three million birds per week through a future second processing line.

The project is expected to provide a substantial economic boost to the New England region. When operating at full capacity, the integrated operations—including grain, feedmills, hatcheries, and transport—are estimated to generate nearly half a billion dollars for the local economy.
