BAIAS AR rebar inspection system wins Good Design Award 2026

GRIFFY Inc. and Ecomott Co., Ltd. have announced that their iPad Pro application, the BAIAS augmented reality (AR) rebar inspection system, has received the Good Design Award 2026. The award recognizes the comprehensive redesign of the software’s user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) implemented in July 2025.

The system aims to modernize the rebar inspection process, which traditionally relies on manual labor and measuring rods. By utilizing AR technology, the application allows users to place virtual rebar in a digital space to obtain precise inspection data. The redesign focused on making complex AR measurements intuitive for users without prior technical experience by incorporating familiar interaction patterns from gaming and 3D modeling tools.

Judges noted that the application significantly reduces the burden on construction sites facing labor shortages and promotes digital transformation (DX) within the industry. The software provides real-time guidance on measurement accuracy, such as optimal shooting distances and angles, to compensate for differences in user skill levels.
