Baidu gains mainland China investor access via Stock Connect

Baidu has gained access to the Shanghai-Hong Kong and Shenzhen-Hong Kong Stock Connect programs. Effective September 7, 2026, this allows eligible investors in mainland China to trade the company’s Class A ordinary shares listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange through southbound channels.

This development follows Baidu’s transition from a secondary listing to a dual-primary listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in August 2026, which served as a prerequisite for Stock Connect eligibility. The company expects the expanded access to broaden its investor base and enhance share liquidity. Historical data for similar Chinese tech firms suggests that inclusion in these programs can lead to a significant increase in southbound shareholding within a month.
