Baidu transitions to dual-primary listing in Hong Kong and the U.S

Baidu, Inc. has officially converted its secondary listing status on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange to a dual-primary listing, effective September 1, 2026. This move makes the AI company primary-listed in both Hong Kong and on the Nasdaq Global Select Market in the United States.

The transition removes the “S” designation from Baidu’s Hong Kong-listed stock tickers. While the conversion does not involve new share issuances or fundraising, it requires the company to comply with all relevant Hong Kong listing rules, including stricter corporate governance and information disclosure requirements.

A key potential outcome of this status change is the possibility of Baidu’s shares becoming eligible for the Southbound trading link under the Hong Kong Stock Connect, which would allow mainland Chinese investors to trade the company’s Hong Kong-listed shares, potentially increasing liquidity.
