Baie-Comeau drug trafficking network dismantled by police
A multi-agency police operation conducted between October 2 and October 8 in Baie-Comeau has dismantled a drug trafficking network linked to organized crime. The operation involved the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the Uashat mak Mani-Utenam police service, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Eight individuals were arrested during the investigation, which included searches at five different locations. Among those arrested was 49-year-old Barbara Tremblay, who appeared in court on October 8 facing multiple charges, including possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
During searches conducted on October 7, authorities seized over 120 grams of cocaine, approximately 250 methamphetamine tablets, and nearly $6,000 in cash. According to the SQ, this collaborative effort is part of an ongoing strategy to combat organized crime and armed violence on the Côte-Nord region.
