Baie-Comeau undergoes multiple infrastructure and road works

Baie-Comeau is currently undergoing several infrastructure and urban development projects. A major construction site is underway to create a new intersection and install traffic lights at the corner of Pierre Ouellet Boulevard and Avenue des Hémérocalles. This project, which began on August 3, 2026, is expected to last approximately 16 weeks, with one lane on the boulevard maintained at all times.

Mayor Michel Desbiens noted that multiple summer projects are progressing between sectors, including the completion of the Petit Bras River bridge, which is now safe for cyclists. Other ongoing works include developments at the Henri-Desjardins Centre, the Pavillon du Lac basketball court, and the Alice-Lane library. Additionally, the second cycling bridge over the La Chasse River has been closed for evaluation.
