Baie de Somme appoints new waste management director

Marc Léal has been appointed as the new director of waste collection and treatment for the Communauté d’agglomération de la Baie de Somme (CABS). Having previously spent 25 years at Amiens Métropole, Léal aims to optimize public services, improve working conditions for the 50 agents involved in collection, and manage rising costs.

To address the community's financial challenges, Léal is prioritizing improved waste sorting to reduce the high costs associated with sorting refusals. As part of this initiative, the CABS plans to appoint two sorting ambassadors by the end of 2026. These ambassadors will work directly with residents and businesses to raise awareness and encourage better recycling practices.
