Bailee Rios arraignment delayed in fatal Chatsworth Metro bus crash

The arraignment of Bailee Rios, 36, has been delayed for a third time due to her ongoing medical condition. Rios faces two counts of second-degree murder, a felony count of driving under the influence causing injury, and a misdemeanor count of reckless driving following a fatal Metro bus crash in Chatsworth.

Prosecutors allege that Rios was driving a gray 2004 Ford Expedition southbound in the northbound lanes of De Soto Avenue when she ran a red light and struck a Metro Line 166 bus. The collision resulted in the deaths of passengers Daniel Castillo, 46, and Gage Weida, 31, and injured five others. Authorities stated that narcotics were recovered from Rios' vehicle and that she was impaired by drugs at the time of the accident.

During a recent court appearance, Rios was transported to the courthouse on a gurney but was unable to enter the courtroom. Defense attorneys cited medical issues as the reason for the delays. Rios is currently being held on $4.1 million bail and faces a maximum sentence of life in prison if convicted.
