Bailey Sersland crowned Reina Nacional del Bambuco 2026
Bailey Sersland, a 20‑year‑old Colombian‑American born in the United States and daughter of a mother from La Argentina, Huila, was crowned Reina Nacional del Bambuco 2026 at the Festival del Bambuco in Neiva, Huila, Colombia. She said she will serve as a global ambassador for the festival and promote Huila’s traditions abroad.
The 65th edition of the festival attracted about 280,000 visitors, reached 98 % hotel occupancy in Neiva, and featured delegations from Indonesia and Panama. Local authorities reported reductions in petty crimes and noted a strong police and army presence that kept the events running smoothly.
Sersland’s victory followed a competition judged on the Sanjuanero Huilense dance, which she performed with partner Sergio Medina. She is studying International Business in Florida and plans projects to internationalise the Sanjuanero and other folkloric expressions.
