Baião implements 1,200 euro incentive per child to support birth rates

The municipality of Baião has implemented a new program to support birth rates and families. The initiative, which follows recent regulatory changes, provides a reimbursement of up to 1,200 euros per child born or adopted starting January 1, 2026.

To qualify, applicants must have been permanently registered in the municipality for more than one year and must not have outstanding debts to the local government. The support is designed to cover expenses related to the first years of a child's life, including health services, food, hygiene products, childcare items, clothing, and furniture.

Beneficiaries must present itemized invoices and demonstrate that at least 300 euros have been spent at commercial establishments within the municipality. Applications can be submitted up to 365 days after the birth or adoption.
