Bairrada Eco Challenge attracts record 2,500 participants

The fourth edition of the Bairrada Eco Challenge is set to take place on September 12, attracting a record 2,500 athletes across 235 teams. Participants are traveling from 13 districts and the Autonomous Region of Madeira to compete in the event.

Organized by the Parish Councils of Oliveira do Bairro and Oiã, alongside the Union of the Parishes of Recardães and Espinhel, the challenge features a 13-kilometer course involving rivers, mud, swamps, and various physical obstacles. Organizers noted a significant increase in female participation this year, surpassing the number of male participants.
