Baitul Arqom Boarding School develops agriculture to support food security

Baitul Arqom Islamic Boarding School in Jember, East Java, is developing agriculture and livestock programs to promote food self-sufficiency. By involving students (santri) in farming and animal husbandry, the institution aims to provide practical vocational skills alongside religious education.

The school leadership stated that these initiatives support President Prabowo Subianto’s national strategic programs, specifically the ‘Asta Cita’ vision and the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program. The production from these activities is intended to contribute to local food supplies and ensure the sustainability of nutritional programs.

Supported by endowment (wakaf) management and various business units, the school seeks to build economic independence. Representatives noted that the institution is prepared to synergize with government plans to foster a self-reliant and prosperous Indonesia through productive community-based economic activities.
