Baitul Arqom Jember recognized as first Gontor alumni pesantren

Baitul Arqom Jember, located in Balung, East Java, holds a significant place in the history of Islamic education in the Tapal Kuda region. Established in 1959 by KH Abdul Mu'id Sulaiman, it is recognized as the first pesantren in Indonesia founded by alumni of Kulliyatu-l-Mu'allimin Al-Islamiyah (KMI) Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor.

The institution maintains a deep connection to Gontor through its educational system, values, and the 'Panca Jiwa' philosophy. Current leader KH Izzat Fahd stated that this relationship is not merely institutional but represents a shared lineage of knowledge and struggle. This connection is evidenced by four generations of the founding family consistently graduating from KMI Gontor, beginning with the founder in 1943 and continuing through subsequent generations to the present day.
