Baja California approves 1,500 peso per hectare subsidy for wheat producers
The Government of Baja California has signed an agreement to implement the Emerging Program for Clear Wheat Income. This initiative will provide 1,500 pesos per hectare to clear wheat producers in the Mexicali Valley who meet specific requirements.
Governor Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda stated that the direct support aims to mitigate the impact of decreased crop yields and ensure the sustainability of agricultural activities for farming families. Unlike previous years where support was calculated per ton produced, this program will provide a general payment per hectare.
Mónica Vargas Núñez of the Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development (SADER) noted that the process of integrating files for payment will begin following the agreement. Horacio Gómez Carranza, representing the State Council of Wheat Producers, acknowledged the government's dialogue and early support to maintain agricultural continuity.
