Baja California authorities expand alternative justice services

Legal authorities in the Baja California region are expanding access to and training for alternative justice mechanisms.

In Baja California Sur, the State Attorney General's Office (PGJE), through the Interdisciplinary Institute of Criminal Sciences, conducted a comprehensive course titled “Theory and Management of Conflict.” The training was designed for Public Ministry Agents and facilitators to strengthen skills in mediation, conciliation, and collaborative negotiation. The program focuses on human rights, restorative justice, and providing victims with adequate attention through legal dialogue and agreement construction.

Simultaneously, the State Center for Alternative Justice (CEJA) of the Judiciary of Baja California is maintaining itinerant mediation and conciliation services in San Quintín and San Felipe. This initiative provides free, accessible services for civil, family, and commercial disputes, allowing citizens to resolve conflicts through dialogue without traveling to other cities. These services are available at the Courts of First Instance in both municipalities.
