Baja California authorities respond to heavy rain damage

Heavy rainfall in Baja California has prompted emergency responses in Tijuana, Rosarito, and Ensenada. In Tijuana and Playas de Rosarito, the Comisión Estatal de Servicios Públicos de Tijuana (CESPT) has intensified cleaning and inspection of hydraulic and sanitary infrastructure to address overflows and obstructions caused by rainwater entering the sewage system.

In Ensenada, the IMSS-Bienestar General Hospital faced significant disruptions due to intense rains. Authorities reported water leaks and electrical supply failures, necessitating the activation of an emergency power plant. The Secretaría de Marina and the Comisión Estatal de Servicios Públicos de Ensenada (CESPE) are conducting pumping operations to remove accumulated water. As a precaution, partial evacuations were initiated, and medical staff evaluated the potential transfer of patients to other facilities to ensure safety.

While CESPT reports that water treatment plants and pumping stations remain stable, local authorities continue to monitor various neighborhoods in Tijuana for potential flooding and infrastructure saturation.
