Baja California launches semiconductor industry development programs
The government of Baja California has launched two programs aimed at strengthening the semiconductor industry's value chain. Through the Secretariat of Economy and Innovation, 15 companies from Mexicali, Tijuana, Ensenada, and Tecate have been selected to participate in a six-month initiative involving specialized training, technical diagnostics, and business networking.
The program includes five newly created companies that will focus on electronic design, advanced manufacturing, automation, and robotics. Their participation will be subsidized by the state government and Banco Santander. Additionally, 10 existing companies will undergo training in quality standards and simulated audits to prepare them as suppliers for the sector. Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda noted that these efforts aim to leverage the region's industrial experience and geographic proximity to California to attract investment and develop specialized local talent.
