Baja California launches ‘Soy México 2026’ for dual nationality registration

The Baja California government, in coordination with the National Registry of Population and Identity (RENAPO), has launched the ‘Soy México 2026’ campaign. This initiative aims to facilitate Mexican birth registration and the issuance of CURP documents for children and adolescents aged 0 to 17 who were born in the United States to Mexican parents and reside in the state.

The program simplifies the process by allowing the validation of U.S. birth certificates without the need for an apostille, translation, or a certificate of non-existence. The campaign follows a specific schedule across various municipalities:

• August 10–31: Mexicali and San Quintín. • September 1–30: San Felipe and Tijuana. • October 1–26: Tecate, Ensenada, and Playas de Rosarito.

Registration is free in Tijuana, Playas de Rosarito, Tecate, Ensenada, and San Quintín. In Mexicali and San Felipe, a 50 percent discount on rights will be applied. To complete the process, families must present a birth registration request, a legible copy of the minor's U.S. birth certificate, the Mexican parents' birth certificates in QR format, parental identification, and the certified CURP of one or both parents.
