Baja California police officer seriously injured in highway collision

A state police officer from the Fuerza Estatal de Seguridad Ciudadana (FESC) remains in serious condition following a collision with a trailer on the Tecate-Mexicali highway. The accident occurred on Monday, August 10, at kilometer 74 of the highway.

Baja California Secretary of Public Security, Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez, reported that the officer sustained a fractured pelvis and fractures in both legs. The officer was transferred to a private hospital in Mexicali for specialized care, with medical expenses to be covered by the state. A second agent involved in the crash was discharged from medical care on Tuesday, August 11.

Authorities stated that heavy rain in the area limited visibility at the time of the accident. The patrol vehicle was traveling behind a trailer when the driver failed to see the heavy vehicle and collided with its rear.
