Baja California prosecutors receive violent threats in Tijuana

Criminal threats were issued against high-ranking officials of the Baja California State Attorney General's Office (FGE) in Tijuana. On August 16, 2026, a handwritten banner, known as a ‘narcomanta’, was discovered in the Mineral de Santa Fe neighborhood near the Tijuana General Hospital, accompanied by two pig heads.

The message specifically targets State Attorney General María Elena Andrade Ramírez and coordinator Juan Carlos Buenrostro Molina. It also names Commissioner Ángel Aispuro Sandoval and several other agents, accusing them of corruption, including the theft of drug shipments, extortion, and the illegal sale of positions to criminal groups. The banner demands that the officials take action against these subordinates, warning that if they do not, the criminal group will take matters into their own hands.

This incident marks the second time Andrade Ramírez has been targeted by similar threats, following a previous occurrence in Tecate in August 2024. The FGE is currently investigating the case to identify the group responsible.
