Baja California received over 32,000 international migrants since 2020
Baja California received more than 32,000 international migrants between October 2020 and October 2025, according to the 2025 Intercensal Survey by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).
Data indicates that the United States was the primary country of origin for international immigrants to Mexico, with the main driver being family reunification. In contrast, migrants from countries such as Cuba, Colombia, and Venezuela primarily cited labor-related reasons for their relocation to Mexico.
Regarding internal migration, Baja California recorded a net positive balance of 2.6 percent during the same period. This places the state fifth nationally among entities with the highest net population gain from internal migration, following Baja California Sur, Quintana Roo, Querétaro, and Hidalgo.
