Baja California Sur and San Luis Potosi Enact New Anti‑Discrimination Laws

The Congress of Baja California Sur approved a comprehensive anti‑discrimination bill containing 74 articles, new administrative sanctions ranging from 20 to 1,300 times the daily UMA, and the creation of a State Council for the Prevention and Elimination of Discrimination. The law expands protection to women, children, seniors, people with disabilities, indigenous and Afro‑Mexican communities, LGBTTTIQNB+ persons, migrants, the homeless and others, and defines multiple forms of discrimination.

In San Luis Potosí, legislators passed a reform to the state education law to guarantee that pregnant girls and adolescents can remain in school. The amendment adds provisions to prevent exclusion, requires immediate reporting of pregnancies and possible crimes to the State Family Development System and the prosecutor, and mandates confidentiality and non‑revictimisation. Both measures aim to strengthen human‑rights protections and reduce discrimination at the state level in Mexico.
