Baja California Sur Congress receives 2027 economic package
The Congress of Baja California Sur has formally received the 2027 Economic Package, submitted by Governor Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío. The proposed budget projects total revenues of 28.3 billion pesos, representing a 5.2 percent increase compared to the previous fiscal year.
Finance and Administration Secretary Bertha Montaño Cota delivered the documents to the President of the Legislative Board, Eduardo Van Wormer Castro. The budget prioritizes social sectors, including health, education, public security, and social assistance. The legislature will now begin a detailed review of the Revenue Law and the Expenditure Budget through various commissions.
In a separate legislative action, the XVII Legislature approved an exhortation to the Secretariat of the Navy (SEMAR). The request asks Admiral Raymundo Pedro Morales Ángeles to consider transferring the administration of the Cabo San Lucas Port Administration (ASIPONA) to the state government. Proponents argue that local administration would ensure port revenues benefit the state directly and address the deterioration of port facilities, which currently impacts fishing, tourism, and maritime sports.
