Baja California Sur Congress receives proposals to strengthen anti-discrimination law

The Congress of Baja California Sur has formally received citizen proposals aimed at strengthening the state’s new law to prevent and eliminate discrimination. The package of modifications was delivered in La Paz by the Municipal Directorate of Inclusion and representatives from various social collectives.

These proposals were developed through municipal working groups, including the Sixth Working Group Against Discrimination, to ensure the legislative framework addresses the specific needs and experiences of marginalized communities. The goal is to create an updated regulatory framework that guarantees equitable rights across all five municipalities in the state.

Martín Escogido Flores, president of the Permanent Commission on Human Rights, confirmed the receipt of the documents. He stated that the legislative committee will analyze the proposals with the intention of presenting a report to the plenary session as early as September 1. The reform aims to foster a culture of respect and diversity through education and prevention rather than relying solely on punitive measures.
