Baja California Sur health officials hold organ donation seminar for students

The Baja California Sur Ministry of Health, through the State Center for Transplants and Chronic Kidney Disease, conducted an informative session for students at the Autonomous University of Baja California Sur (UABCS). The session focused on the voluntary donation of organs and tissues, covering both medical and legal aspects of the process.

Law and health sciences students participated in the workshop, learning about donor requirements, transplant procedures, and the provisions of the General Health Law. Ethna Quiroz León, the state director of the Center, emphasized that donation is an altruistic and voluntary act. She advised potential donors to express their wishes during their lifetime and communicate them to their families to ensure their decisions are respected.

According to officials, a single donor can benefit at least seven people through organ donation and up to 50 others through tissue donation.
