Baja California Sur implements cell phone restrictions in schools
The Secretariat of Public Education (SEP) in Baja California Sur has begun holding informative assemblies with school administrators and parents to explain new regulations regarding the use of cell phones and digital devices. These rules apply to both public and private preschool, primary, and secondary schools across the state.
The measures aim to reduce classroom distractions, improve learning outcomes, and promote healthy social interaction among students. Authorities noted that excessive use of digital devices and social media is linked to mental health issues, sleep disturbances, and attention difficulties in children and adolescents. The initiative aligns with UNESCO warnings regarding the interference caused by mobile phones in educational settings.
Informational meetings have commenced in Guerrero Negro and will continue through municipalities including Vizcaíno, Santa Rosalía, Loreto, and Ciudad Constitución. Scheduled assemblies for La Paz, Cabo San Lucas, and San José del Cabo are set for late October.
