Baja California Sur issues 48-hour beach advisory for La Paz and Los Cabos

The Secretary of Health of Baja California Sur has issued a 48-hour recommendation for the public to avoid entering urban beaches in La Paz and Los Cabos. This preventive measure follows recent heavy rains that caused sediment and waste to be washed into the sea via streams.

The State Commission for Risk Protection against Sanitary Risks (COEPRIS BCS) stated that the runoff may increase the concentration of microorganisms that could impact health. The advisory covers the stretch from El Conchalito to El Caimancito.

Authorities clarified that the beaches are not confirmed to be contaminated, but the restriction is a precaution while waiting for new water samples to be analyzed. After the 48-hour period, new testing will determine if the water is safe for recreational activities.
