Baja California Sur reports minor damage after heavy rains

Heavy rains across the five municipalities of Baja California Sur have resulted in minor material damage, power outages, and temporary road obstructions. Authorities in La Paz, Los Cabos, Comondú, Loreto, and Mulegé reported a ‘saldo blanco’ (no casualties), noting that coordinated efforts between municipal administrations, the Armed Forces, and state government agencies allowed for immediate intervention in vulnerable areas.

In response to the weather conditions, the State Commission for Risk Protection against Sanitary Risks (COEPRIS) has temporarily suspended the sale of food on public streets in areas affected by drainage water overflow. This measure aims to prevent acute diarrheal diseases caused by pathogen exposure. COEPRIS officials are conducting inspections across the state to ensure compliance and have advised merchants to sanitize workspaces with hyperchlorinated water and maintain strict hygiene standards.
