Baja California Sur to assign 500 new educational positions
The Mexican government and the National Union of Education Workers (SNTE) are assigning 500 new permanent positions to the educational sector in Baja California Sur. This initiative aims to regularize workers who previously operated under compensated schemes without formal tenure.
The allocation includes 260 positions for classroom teachers in general and technical secondary schools, telesecundarias, and physical education, 230 positions for support and assistance personnel (PAE), and 10 positions for basic education sub-directors. These changes will provide staff with improved salaries, legal benefits, housing assistance, and retirement security.
According to Secretary of Public Education Alicia Meza Osuna, this move follows a demand from the state's teaching community that has persisted for over 20 years. Combined with 500 positions granted in 2025, this brings the total to 1,000 regularized positions across two stages. The new labor status is set to take effect on October 1.
