Baja California's Tarjeta Violeta registration draws hundreds of women
Hundreds of women, primarily autonomous mothers, arrived at the Secretaría de Bienestar offices in Tijuana's Third Stage of the Río Tijuana early on Monday, July 27, 2026, to register for the state’s Tarjeta Violeta program. By midnight more than 700 women were in line, some staying overnight with children to secure a place in the registration process.
The government later clarified that early‑morning or overnight arrivals are unnecessary. Registration will take place from July 27 to July 31, 2026, each day between 08:00 and 15:00, allowing applicants to attend any of those days. The program provides a cash benefit of 2,600 pesos every two months to eligible women aged 18 to 59 who are heads of household, earn less than 15,000 pesos per month, and live in economic vulnerability.
Applicants must present official identification and proof of residence, among other documents, at the designated modules. The Secretaría de Bienestar urged women to consult official channels for details on locations, requirements, and to avoid remaining in public spaces overnight.
