Baja Portalegre 500 celebrates 40th edition in Portugal

The 40th edition of the Baja Portalegre 500 is scheduled to take place from October 15 to 17 in Portugal. The event features 436 to 441 participants across various categories, including automobiles, motorcycles, quads, SSVs, and a Mini Baja category for youth aged 8 to 16.

Race director Orlando Romana noted that the milestone edition includes special initiatives such as vintage vehicle races and an exhibition dedicated to the history of the event. The competition is part of the World and European Baja Cups and national championships, attracting elite international off-road talent.

Due to the event, the Portalegre Public Security Police (PSP) has announced significant traffic and parking restrictions. From October 14 to 16, certain areas around Avenida da Liberdade and Rua Alexandre Herculano will face circulation constraints. Heavy vehicles will be diverted to the IP2 during the start ceremony on October 15. Organizers have also warned that dry conditions may lead to high dust levels, impacting visibility and safety.
