Baja Portalegre 500 celebrates 40th edition in Portugal

The 40th edition of the Baja Portalegre 500 concluded in the Alto Alentejo region, marked by high temperatures and significant mechanical challenges. Francisco Barreto and Paulo Fiuza secured the car category victory driving a Toyota Hilux EVO, following a competitive race where leaders faced accidents and mechanical failures.

In other categories, Micael Simão won the motorcycle class on a KTM 500 EXC, while Tomás Paulo took first place in the Quads category using a Yamaha YFZ450R. Gonçalo Guerra and André Lopes achieved their first career victory in the SSV category driving a Polaris RZR Pro R.

Additionally, the Team Consilcar duo, Edgar Condenso and Nuno Silva, completed the race in 12th place in the Challenger category. They used the event to test the Kaizen prototype, a vehicle developed in Portugal by Cattiva Sport, gathering crucial data despite experiencing power steering issues and a tire puncture.
