Bajaj Pulsar 150 and TVS Apache RTR 160 compete in motorcycle segment

The 150-160cc motorcycle segment in India features a significant competition between the Bajaj Pulsar 150 and the TVS Apache RTR 160. The Bajaj Pulsar 150 has been updated with a new platform, featuring a single-cylinder 149.5cc engine, a single-cradle frame, and monoshock rear suspension. It is available in three variants: the base SD Single Seat, the TD Single Seat, and the top-tier TD Split Seat.

Technical specifications show the TVS Apache RTR 160 offers higher power at approximately 16.04 PS from its 159.7cc engine, compared to the Pulsar 150’s 14 PS. However, the Pulsar 150 provides slightly higher torque at 14.1 Nm. Both motorcycles offer similar fuel efficiency, with the Pulsar 150 claiming roughly 47.5 kmpl and the Apache RTR 160 claiming approximately 47 kmpl.

In terms of features, the Pulsar 150 variants range from a 5-inch LCD with Bluetooth to a 5-inch TFT display with Wi-Fi and Google Maps mirroring. Higher-end Pulsar models include an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG), belly pan, and hazard lights. Pricing for the Pulsar 150 starts at approximately 1.15 lakh rupees, while the Apache RTR 160 starts at roughly 1.13 lakh rupees.
