Bajaj registers Chetak electric scooter design in Brazil

Bajaj Auto Limited has registered the industrial design for an updated version of its Chetak electric scooter with Brazil’s National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI). The design documents reveal visual elements similar to the C2501, an entry-level model currently sold in the Indian market.

While the registration protects the product's intellectual property, it does not confirm that the scooter will be officially launched in Brazil. The filing provides no information regarding pricing, release schedules, or specific versions for the Brazilian market.

The potential entry of the Chetak comes amid a challenging landscape for electric two-wheelers in Brazil. For comparison, the C2501 is priced at approximately R$ 5,000 in India, though local taxes and adaptations would significantly alter the cost in Brazil. The market remains cautious following Yamaha’s recent attempt to enter the segment with the Neo’s Connected, which struggled to achieve significant sales despite price reductions.
